Dr. Brian Heiser

Dr. Brian Heiser is a board-certified veterinary surgeon specializing in small animal orthopedic surgery and soft tissue. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. After three years as a general practitioner in southwestern Washington, Dr. Heiser completed a small animal surgical internship in Boise, Idaho, in 2009, followed by a small animal surgical residency at Summit Veterinary Referral Center. He joined the Summit surgery team in the summer of 2016.
Following his time at Summit, Dr. Heiser began his mobile orthopedic surgery practice with a mission to bring advanced surgical care directly to veterinary hospitals and their patients, particularly in communities located farther away from veterinary specialists. His mobile practice allows him to partner with local veterinarians and provide specialized orthopedic surgical services without requiring clients and their pets to travel long distances for care.
Dr. Heiser’s passion for veterinary medicine is rooted in his genuine love of animals and his desire to make specialized care more accessible to pets and their families. He values the relationships he has built with veterinary teams and appreciates the opportunity to work alongside dedicated local veterinarians and technicians. He especially credits LVT Technician Parris, whom he says he couldn’t do his job without.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Heiser’s greatest accomplishment is being a dad to his three daughters, who are the most important part of his life. He enjoys spending time with his daughters, hiking and mountain biking with his 7-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer, Willie, camping, and playing frisbee golf. His animal family also includes Charlie, a 1-year-old Manx, and Captain Marvel, a 7-year-old domestic longhair cat.
When he has time away from work and family adventures, Dr. Heiser loves to cook. Above all, he feels fortunate to combine his love of animals, surgery, and working with veterinary teams to help pets receive the specialized care they need—where they need it.
